About TiconderogaOnline

TiconderogaOnline began as an original fiction offshoot from Western Australian quality independent publisher, Ticonderoga Publications, in 1999. That year proved to be a busy one for editor Russell B. Farr, as Ticonderoga published short fiction collections New Adventures in Sci-Fi by Sean Williams, The Lady of Situations by Stephen Dedman, as well as involvement in MP Books' Antique Futures: The best of Terry Dowling. Due to a shortage of time and available funds, TiconderogaOnline only published four short stories that year. In 2000 TiconderogaOnline published a further two stories before personal circumstances forced Russell B. Farr to suspend TiconderogaOnline indefinitely.

In late 2003, a collective of Lee Battersby, Liz Grzyb, Lyn Triffitt and Russell B. Farr formed to revive TiconderogaOnline. With a larger pool of independent publishing's two scarcest resources — time and money — and a new vision TiconderogaOnline aims to bring you Australia's best free sf.

In 2005, TiconderogaOnline was voted Best Fanzine at that year's Ditmar Awards. While the editors have never really considered TiconderogaOnline a true fanzine, having always paid at least a token amount for fiction, the accolade represents the respect this publication has earned.

And, because nothing Ticonderoga seems to stay buried forever, in 2005 Russell B. Farr announced the revival of Ticonderoga Publications.

Good fiction should be able to be enjoyed by everyone. While we pay our contributors we charge our readers nothing. TiconderogaOnline has also adopted a low-tech policy in order to provide universal access. If you have any difficulties navigating this site please let us know.

TiconderogaOnline is one of the oldest Australian semi-professional webzines, first uploaded in early 1999. While the costs associated with this publication are subsidised by the parent publisher, sadly the costs in providing quality, free fiction aren't nearly as cheap. We encourage readers who enjoy the content provided here to make a small donation, or visit Ticonderoga Publications' online store and purchase one of the many excellent books available. We do appreciate this additional support.

This publication is now highly respected, publishing established writers as well as providing important opportunities for rising talents. We look forward to continuing this for many years to come.
